I just bought a brand new set of Redhead Waders on Friday while I was at BPS Bossier and hope they don't leak....If these leak I will go their next. My biggest issue has been tearing holes in them. The area that I hunt has a lot of submerged brush and that is how I damage them. Three seasons and three sets. Two $170 pair of Hodgemans and this pair of Redheads....

I used to hunt in a similar environment. To protect my waders, I bought a large pair of thin camo cotton pants and wore them over the waders. I used an elastic belt to hold them up. It stopped the punctures for me.

Kelly, I've heard some really mixed reviews on the Drake waders. Seams they may not have paid the attention needed to the basics like seems and stiching. They'll probably get it fixed but that's what I"m seeing.

Macks just came out with a new seam system, though I have only had my new waders of theirs a year it sure looks like it will do the trick for many more. The other big point of concern to me is the boot, Mack's new boot structure is sweet. Feels really good on the foot, and super stable. May even be a little stiff for folks who like some movement.

I've heard Drake waders are not the best and the boots have a tendency to seperate from the waders. I would recomend a good pair of breatheables or Hodgman waders.

That sux about the drake waders, they look cool. When I was guiding in arkansas I went through 3 pairs of hodgemans in one season, now this was 7 years ago but it left a bad taste with me.

Yea a few of my hunting buddies have owned drake waders and all of them have had the same complaints about them. I usually go through 1-2 pair of hodgemans a season. So i bought a pair of simms and when its warm I use a pair of cheap Academy GW waders.

I bought a pair of Drake Equaders... returned them after 2 hunts. They look good and you want them to be a great product but Drake just dropped the ball on this one, just poor construction. I went back to using my Hodgman breathables, they are baggy and ugly but they have been good.

As for waders,I like the cabbalas first flight 400 breathable chest waders, they are awesome, light enough to move around. And if its real cold I throw oversized hand warmers under each foot, just make sure you open the hand warmers 20 minutes prior to putting them in.
As far as gun goes,I like the extrema, but shot more ducks and geese in hundredfold with my all around 870

i used cheapy GW waders from academy for a whole season. only had one leak but that was from trying to hop a fence in the WMA. a patch kit fixed it fine. i ordered the 2010 big ditch waders from macks. tried em on but havent tested em yet. they seem to be sturdy consruction. the inseam is a little long for me for my foot size. i wear an 11 and im 5'11". they might be a little too warm for early season. so will probably stick with cheapies till first split.
