The wife and I went out Saturday afternoon to the place I hunt in Johnson County. On the way to set up the pop-up we heard some movement in the woods. Instead of setting up we weren't able to move much so we hid our gear behind a tree, set up the decoy in the road and slowly walked about 10 yards off. Though the turkey were within 75 yards of me it took about 25 minutes to coax them in. Finally I had a couple get where I had a shot opportunity and I picked the closest one and let my Mossberg 835 Tactical Turkey ring out. It was literally the first time my wife had ever been hunting and it was my best turkey to date. Weighed 22 pounds, 10 5/8 inch beard, thin 5 inch beard (double bearded)and 1 inch spurs.
