my preferrences as follow,, **springfield 1911, all of them, they have great support,** kimber 4" or longer,** ,** or step dwn or laterally to sti, **then rock island, and citadel** a big step up would be to the full custom lines nighthawk, dan wesson, etcetcetc

I have had 5 1911 llama ,charles daley, springfield,colt and now a kimber and they all need good mags. or they jam but the I like my kimber better than any of them trigger better and more acc.1000.00

I'm Kinda a 1911 junkie...have a few, and have had a ton....I prefer a Springfield...Or the Springfield Ultra Compact to carry....It does get heavy though...

Springfield or ruger SR1911 in your price range.

You will hear many say the ruger isn't worth it but not likely from anyone who has owned and shot one.
