And yes I would say the same thing about the 280. It is a great round, more efficient than a 270 and a little faster... enough to notice? Not at all! Doe the shells cost more? For sure they do! Are they harder to find? Absolutely! My dad has one and it is a good gun but if you ask him he will tell you to get a 270 instead.
Its just my opinion, some like the odball stuff just so they are different, it doesnt mean anything to me.
matt Don't know where your dad gets bullets but there is a huge selection to choose from in the .284/7mm lines Yea you get what Im saying! That is exactly what I meant. I see no plus what so ever to owning a 25-06 over a 270 so I dont If you do any distance shooting the higher BC of the 25-06 pills will make a big difference especially if you are shooting light for the caliber (270) bullets ie 130's

I never said you cant find 280 bullets you can. I reload it for him so it isnt that big of a deal anymore, but you cant just go pic them up you either had to order them or drive to bass pro or cabellas, over an hour one way for either one, id rather go 10 minutes to academy. And finaly 150's are the grain of choice in my 270.. I dont know how that compares with the 25-06 and I dont care. matt

I dont know but I would love it if you would go post this on the 25-06 VRS 270 thread...There are alot of 25-06 coolaid goin down over there.
I personaly think it is a good caliber, but wouldnt have one just because it doesnt do anything that my 270 cant and ammo is more expensive and harder to find. If your gonna live with strugling to find ammo then you may as well go all the way and get a wby. LOL true(I shoot wby) but its really not a struggle to find ammo since I load and FYI i can find wby ammo at ANY academy IF your having trouble finding ammo for a gun, then I'll let you in on a little secret.... DONT WAIT UNTILL THE LAST MINUTE AND BUY MORE THAN 1 BOX AT A TIME!!!!! Go to midwayusa.com as sugested by JJH and look online for midway usa.com coupon codes you can usually find a $10 of a $50 purchase which offsets the shipping and you dont pay sales tax; also their prices are really good .....so then theres no excuse

I usually see 2 or 3 different 25-06 options at Academy. And yes.. Sometimes its nice to buy online and the selection is much greater. When you get past the 5-6 most popular cartridges the selection choice go down at the local stores.

25-06 is the greatest round ever and if you shoot any thing over it, you are over gunned and compensating
I will get off in a little bit
