Hey THFers, my brother and I are considering buying a place out near Archer City in Archer Co. We are looking to make the place a hunting and recreation ranch for the family for years to come. Primarily, we hunt deer turkey and quail. Do any of you know what the hunting is like in that area? How about minerals in that area?
Anyone worked with a bank or ag credit shop in that area? Lastly, if anyone has suggestions for road work, water wells, or metal building construction in that area, I'd love to hear them.
It certainly is beautiful country. Thanks fellas.

Don't know anything about it, but congrats on making that decision. I haven't regretted buying land a day in my life.

I lived in Wichita falls (just north of there) and worked in the oil fields for 14 years in and around Archer and surrounding counties. Alot of deer around there, as for quail I haven't seen a lot. Dove are good out there though, and the land is pretty inexpensive (because of alot of mesquites) and if you fish too you're not far from Lake Arrowhead. Good investment. WTG
