About 5 or 6 years ago I started getting put on the 3 day wait for buying a gun. I dont know why this would happen, any ideas??? I know I can get my CHL but since the "castle law" dont realy want my CHL. I dont mind waiting the three days it's just a pain in the rear if you are out of town and find somthing you want.... When you buy a gun and they do the FBI check you get one of three answeres: Yes, no, maybe (or wait). If you get the maybe (or wait) the FBI has three days (maybe 4 I cant remember) to contact the gun dealer back and give a yes or no. If they do not call back then you can buy the gun, somtimes they call and somtimes they dont. This is the basic as it was explained to me a few years back. Like I said I dont mind the wait but I was in Houston two weeks ago and found a gun I wanted and you get the idea..... Also it makes it almost impossible to buy at a gun show..... Jeff

Not all stores wait the 3 days.
Some will let it go anyhow.

Terminology - it's not really that difficult to understand NICS rules. Sometimes you wait...sometimes you don't....other times you don't get to buy at all.

That happens to me alot and they tell me it's cause i have a very commom name! I asked what happens cause i have bought firearms in the evening and no problem! wtf? They told me when they contact them and give your info, if you have a common name they will transfer it to another person to look further. Then that person will approve it after all the research. Thats why when they do it in the daytime they are always so busy they don't have they second person to research right at hand so it causes they 3 day wait, thats why when i buy in the evenings no problem they are always available. Sucks because at gunshows it's a hit or miss. Anyways thats what they have told me

It never takes more than a few seconds to get to the "2nd tier" person for further review any time of the day or night. That's a bunch of "stuff" also that all common names go to "2nd tier". Just FYI

They? Gunshops, Dealers at gunshows! I guess what they meant is that the 2nd tier get overwhelmed during the day sometimes? Because at night it's never happened where i have to wait 3 days. But like i said! That's just what they hve told me! I don't work for the FBI!!
