I am wondering if anyone has or has any info on the vanguard carbine? I have been looking at them and would like some opinions. I have also looked at the howa ranchland I know there the same actions but which would you pick and why?

I would pick the Vanguard because it has... Factory-tuned, fully adjustable trigger vs. non-adjustable Fluted bolt body Fully enclosed bolt sleeve One piece machined bolt vs. forged Monte Carlo Stock vs. straight 6.5# Vanguard vs. 7.15# Howa A lot of people think the Vanguard and Howa are the same because they are made in the same factory. That is like saying the Chevy Avalanche and Cadillac Escalade are the same because they are made in the same factory, it just ain't so.

Here is mine. .308, medalist stock, talley rings, custom brake, and cheap crappy scope(for now). Trigger is amazing for factory(after tuning). I just started some reloads for it yesterday. Even with a crappy tasco scope on it, she is more accurate than i am.

There is no need for the 7mm-08. A 22 Hornet loaded with +++++++++P++++++ is all any true hunter needs for any North American game.

Therre is +P for other things as well X2. I know they used to make (and might still) +P for .257 Roberts. Reason is-many custom rifles were built on old military actions that were not built to standards for modern ammo. So it used to be that when one bought regular Roberts ammo off the shelf, it was greatly underpowered if it didn't say +P. There are probably other rifle calibers that they make it for. This is just one I had experience with.

So the original .257 Roberts wasn't loaded to SAMMI standards? What i am really getting at is it seems someone was poking fun or ruffling feathers by saying ++++++P+++++. I was just trying to figure it out. Seems in more than a few threads the Vanguard rifle is kind of look down on.

Didn't mean anything by it. It does seem that the Vanguard is looked down on and not sure why. I certainly don't look down on it. I will probably never own one, but it is just because I have an affinity for the old Rugers. Nothing personal about other brands for sure.
