Thanks to the generosity of the Texas Public Utilities Commission,I am going to be the recipient of two miles of 345kV transmission line on one of the ranches. It will cut a swath through the valley of two pastures. I guess it could be worse because it misses all my grain fields. I knew it was coming because three of the four proposed routes had my name on them. If you have been following my posts, I am in the process of establishing protein feeder stations across the ranch. Looks like I put things on hold in those pastures until the surveyors finish staking their flags. On the positive side, we are going to have some nice LOOONG 150 foot wide shooting lanes...just not necessarily where I would have placed them. Maybe the easement will offset some of the jump in feed prices.

It is going to be an interesting year or so.

Transmission lines and pipeline clearings are great deer funnels. Depending how far you fell comfortable shooting. Go ahead and feed the deer will get used to all the comotion fairly quick.

get some seed mix or some "throw-n-grow" and toss out there to green things back up & the deer will get used to the area, especially with food.

I hope it is a company that is easy to deal with and not the bad one putting in lines in some areas. I had a friend that dealt with them about 4 yrs ago and had a heck of a time dealing with them. When he was done his attorney told him he had a career as a negotiator since he got things from the power company that others could not. Even had them back in court last year to make them hold up some of their lease agreements that the power company was not doing.

Glad it is not LCRA from what I have heard from friends of mine in Central Texas they are difficult to deal with. Get you a good attorney is all that I have learned from my friends on this.

Up here, we call um farms. lol We had the same thing happen to us. Just make sure they clean up after they run the lines. They left ours a real mess. You should also have the option of having them plant conservation easement seedings. By all means, if you are pasturing or cropping the easement, DON'T LET THEM SPRAY for growth control on the right-of-way. That's what they do up here. From helicopters. We had to threaten to sue them as we had planted native grasses and forbs on the right-of-way. Good luck and I hope you got a bunch.

Make them go back in there and seed the right of ways with a native grass. I would also make them do it next year so that it gets established. Like someone said, do not let them spray for weed control, or all you will have is another road.

We have a line going through our ranch west of Throckmorton . Any idea of what we make them pay a foot for the easement ?
