The sizing die will have an insert made of carbide steel at the base of the die. The carbide can resize brass cases without the use of case lube.

I assumed you were referring to pistol dies. Carbide dies are usually only for staight wall or slightly tapered brass. Examples are .38/.357, 45 auto, 9mm, 40 S$W, .44Spec/.44mag etc. The die set would normally be marked as being carbide dies.
