I am in the need of a good case trimmer. Which one has worked the best for y'all and is simplest to use? I Don't want to spend a whole bunch of money but would like to get a pretty good one.

I like my Forster, just starting out but it is really easy to use and feels pretty solid.

Forester Collet *The Lyman seats the case primer pocket on a ball inside anvil. Different manufactures, and different chamfers on different primer pocket means different trim lengths. Forester seat on collet and rim of case. Less variation off of rim. Minor diff but can be problem because when you measure case you are measuring OAL from neck to rim. JME

JME It has been many years since I ditched my Lyman Universal trimmer, but I seem to recall that the ball was spring loaded. Is this not correct? I agree with the idea that simple is good. BUT...case trimming is one of my least favorite tasks in all of reloading. I recommend the RCBS Trim Pro system because it can be had at a reasonable price to get started, then accessorized as time goes by with 3-Way Cutters and the motorized unit. I can now change from .223 to .280 in about one minute and have to adjust NOTHING. Plus, using 3-Way Cutters I can trim three or four cases a minute and I don't have to chamfer a single case mouth. I love my trimming setup!

Cutter head and lock stud for drill costs around 6-7 bucks (one time purchase as you use those for all of your calibers), case length gague and shellholder set (caliber specific) runs around 5 bucks, you just buy for whatever particular round you need. Simple, good results, cant trim too much off. Midway has 'em, along with lots of other places, I know Cabelas has them in stock in common calibers.

It works but if you trim a lot of cases, it's a lot of work even with a drill. Then, if you reload a lot of different calibers, you don't even save any money going that way. I had it but bought a Lyman trimmer and then ordered a drill adapter, now everything is quite easy on time and fingers. $80 + tax, worth the investment if you trim as many cases as I do. I'm giving the Lee stuff to my brother as he will be only reloading to 6.5x55, at least for now. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Lyman-Universal174-Case-Trimmer/731718.utshttp://www.cabelas.com/product/Lyman-Universal174-Case-Trimmer-Power-Adapter/731756.uts

This one is the best one I have ever used, they are a lot more than the others but very fast, I run a lot of ammo through my 308 and this cuts my reloading time in half if not more. http://www.giraudtool.com/prod02.htm

Mike, that looks like a pretty robust setup. Do you have to readjust when you change from one caliber to another, or do the attachments hold the settings so you can just switch 'em out and go?

I do not think anyone mentioned the Wilson case trimmer. They make a very nice steel trimmer that will last a lifetime. Case holders are available for fired or resized cases. You can hook it up to a drill if needed, but are easy to use by hand.
