Sorry guys, but I just started bow hunting. My buds and I have worked very hard over the last year to move from rifle to bow and it looks like we are set to go. I was in my stand last Saturday at sun up and decided to pass on a young doe but many opportunities will present themselves this season. We are all set up with Stingers, 100 gr on my buddies bows, and 85 gr. on mine. From our limited experience so far, the blood trail using these things is non-existant and we are 1-2 on finding the deer (although the one we lost did have a biscuit mount fail leading to a bad shot.). We've tracked down several deer that have left sparse trails in the past so we know what we're looking for and even the one that crashed within a 50-100 yards barely left a drop of blood. I don't have confidence that these broadheads leave a good trail. We rigged our bows with them on the advice of a pro at outdoor pro in Richardson, which is one of the best bow shops in N. Texas (mho, of course). So what do ya'll think of the stingers, my situation and what broadheads do you prefer and why.

I know this is probably a worn out topic but I didn't see it discussed in too much detail over the last few pages... Any help please?

Thanks! Matthew

I like the Slick Trick broadhead. They fly like field points and are very sharp right out of the box and stay that way after you shoot an animal.

The only thing I shot with them was a pig and no blood trail needed. The pig ran about 20 yards and fell over. To answer your ? yes it did.

To bow hunt you have to be a good tracker because sometimes they just don't bleed a lot. As long as you are not shooting though some sort of shot though mesh I would suggest trying the Rage 2 blade. They fly like field tips and leave a 2 inch hole. As far as the best bow shot I would suggest Arlington Bow Hunting World.

Oh and here is a pic of the hole going in. The shot was a little low but the deer bled fine.

Congrats on the deer BTW! That is an impressive entry. Looks like a heart shot. Were you in a tree stand or on the ground?

Thanks. I was in a tripod but it is only about 6 feet off of the ground. The shot was a little low but it worked out fine.
