My son and I were invited on a mulie hunt two years ago ,we both scored on nice bucks, over a three day period we saw zero whitetails,we were 12 miles southwest of Estelline, last year we saw probably 20 percent wt 80 percent Mulies.Landowner wants every wt shot on sight(obviously legally tagged)that is very unique country, open rolling country with severe erosion and draws, never seen anything like it before, all mesquite on this ranch, very little cedar.
Life is too short, as is. Don't chance it. Don't text and drive.

Hunted there for several years and had a place 11 or 12 miles North of Matador, and another one that was about 7 miles North of that lease. There were two or three times the WT's than mulies on both places, and probably more pigs than WT's and mulies.

I think it all depends on location. I'm in the northern half of Hall County and I probably see 2/3 whitetails, 1/3 muley.
Down south "between Turkey and Childress" you're in canyon country and I think your whitetail sitings will be few.

They flew our place this past weekend so we can get on the Mule deer MLD program. A buddy of mine helped them and he said he probably saw 4 mule deer to every 1 whitetail. I think they only counted 80 hogs on 16,000 acres.

I bet you have lots of pigs from all reports. Myself, I killed five this year out of about 10-15 seen on trail cams.

We lease a few miles from Tell and while we usually just quail hunt we often see mulies. It is not uncommon to see 30 plus mule deer on the wheat early and late. Most years we only see a couple of whitetails. Due to low bird count this past season we started chasing the hogs and I did see 14 whitetail does come into the wheat one evening. I do not understand why Texas doesn't open the season on mule deer does (our land owner hates them). Enjoy your options!
