Got a letter at my dad's, seems some outfit(T Boone Pickens) is running a high power transmission line thru the heart of my property, and several other duck holes in southern Wise County. Taking a 200yd wide swath and my Woodie/Mallard hole will be gone, clear cut and dozed. I planted 40 Live oaks last year, and spent $6000 on dozer work. I will see little if any reimbursement on my investment, and if I fight it, imminent domain will prevail.

It is coming from West Texas to Fort Worth, looping around the north end of Eagle Mountain, I have talked to several property owners on the west side of the lake, but haven't had a chance to hit the east side.

I know there are several that hunt private north of the lake, might be a time to call your land owner and see, maybe if enough get involved in the fight we can get it moved.

I have an attorney friend who mentioned this a while back. He said he is working with people on this matter for their land.

Hope you get that straightened out.

Would never try and tell you what to do but . .

I would recommend that you discuss with a lawyer prior to any more "public forum" discussion. (you might want a moderator to delete the post)
Postings are "indisputeable record" of premeditated activities and sentiment prior to any hearings, and can often be twisted counter to your cause.

I can tell you the land owners can squawk all they want. The best your going to get is a better price, no way they will move it if they don't want to move it. Been there done it.

yeah that t boone is a crook. I was throwing up when he was on tv acting like he cares about anything but his bottom dollar. He owns a bunch of worthless land and is using government funds to install wind turbins on it. Then TXU will run the lines through YOUR property.

WIN WIN for TBOONE, and the TBoone Plan. Plan of lining his pockets.

No no no. Can't you tell he's trying to make this world a better cleaner place?

Ahhhhh, can't keep a straight face here.

Back on topic, I'm sorry to hear about the land loss. That has to be REALLY friggin' frustrating... mad

I ain't to worried about court, I don't foresee it stopping, the majority of the land here belongs to Tarrant Regional Water District and I am sure they got paid handsomely. It will eventually affect anyone hunting the north end and up in the river area, I am sure it will tie into the power plant grid on Boat Club/Morris Dido.

Well, I appreciate the offer, but they had 3 sights picked out, the last one was the greenbelt in Denton, they fought and won, I have spoke to about 20 of the landowners and they have already signed a commitment letter, so even if a handful of duck hunters fought it they would use imminent domain and take the land from us, sad part is the farm has been in my family for over a century.

All I got to say is, they better not leave any low areas, I gots a bigass water pump and I know how to plant millet.

I have been thru every worst case scenario, with the way this river likes to get out of its banks, it will make me a new and possibly better duck hole, just not the one I killed my very first duck and back then goose on. I still have a blind under the same tree, although I can no longer reach around the tree.

I guess my days of a quick workday hunt are winding down, I was talking to my uncle about the duck hunting there, and he told me that back when he was a kid, late 20's, early 30's he said him, my dad, another uncle and grandfather would literally kill several hundred ducks a week off of the hole, he said back then, that duck, goose, catfish and squirrel were about all they ate during the winter.

I do hope for you that this is at least true for you so it is not a total loss.

Has zero to do with who you vote for. ED will always win..the difference is how good of a deal your lawyer gets you.

I have a lot of experience with routing transmission lines. Make a request for a route modification. You can ask the t-line company to move the route to a better spot on your property (like along a road/fenceline as opposed to cutting across the property). The PUC has ordered the t-line companies to work with landowners and try to accomodate them.

Wetlands won't be bulldozed, they will be spanned.

There's bound to be some wetland habitat program to help keep them away.... Lawyer up might be wise in this case... and I hate lawyers

I don't know how this is just becoming an issue. I have property that could have possibly been effected in Southern Wise County and I received a letter with proposed routes over a year ago. You might be a little late to the party to fight much.

This is our first contact with them, by the time we found out it had already been approved. If I had received notice a yr ago, I would be so PO'd, and this is what has me so flustered. They claimed they proposed this prior and our inaction lead to their decision, but they have yet to produce the first notice they sent, or documentation there of.
