Last deer season was great and my boy (10 yrs old) shot his first buck. We took it to the Extreme Artistry laso known as Artistic Expressions in Bronte and paid almost $200 for a skull mount. Guys seemed nice enough and my boy was so happy to get the mount, but they never sent me my mount!! I took it to them a few days before Thanksgiving and it was supposed to be done by Christmas. After weeks of my son repeatedly asking for his buck I called and he said he was behind and I was very understanding. He promised it would be out that week......well here we are in March and Jerry (the owner) never answers his phone or cell phone. My son is so dissapointed and so am I. The kicker is the guy also runs guide outfit, hope they have better luck than I did. It's bad enough you've got people that will take your money but when you steal a child's memory of his first buck with his dad.....thats just downright nasty!! mad I wanted to make sure this happens to no one else. Thanks for listening...

I don't want to ruffle feathers by saying what I'm going to say but it happens too often!

First of all and not saying that you are one of them but why would a guy that pays upwards of 1000, to 1500 to several thousand dollars to hunt, plus the expense of guns and 4 wheelers always look for the guy that will mount his trophy the cheapest?

Doesn't make sense when you are talking about your trophy?

Take your mounts to a reputable taxidermist and not some guy joe recommended because he cranks them out in two weeks and only charges $200.

Reputable meaning been in business for years and has a reputation to protect, and doesn't work a sideline guide service/taxidermy shop.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

The phone number for Jerry is not a working number anymore. However I did get an answer from what I presume was his wife at the number below. I would call her and see if you can get your mount. Nothing works better than a nagging wife, right? lol

good luck

$200 from what I've encountered is not cheap for a bleached skull mount without the plaque and the guy had a full blown taxi shop with a showroom and the whole nine yards. I would never have taken this mount to a fly by night or the cheapest guy I could find only to save a few dollars when it was my sons first deer, but I can see where that would happen. I did call and that is his ex-wife .... shes the one that gave me his cell number but still won't answer.

No joke on the 2 bills, thats too dang high for a euro! I don't know all the details, but I certainly don't think the OP was trying to get out cheap. Oh yeah, check with the local Game Warden and Sheriff.

2 bills for a euromount...ouch. You definitely were not trying to get off cheap. I hope you the best in tracking down this guy to get your set of horns back. I bet you can and will.

For $200 it should have been bleached while you waited in the lobby! Hope you get it back soon, especially since it was your sons first buck! Good Luck

If you can recover the skull. Ship it to me and I will do it for free. I hate to see this happen to a boys trophy. I will cover the return shipping and make this one top priority.

I hope everything works out for you.

I paid $200 for a euro mount last year... it was a 3-D mount, and the wood was really nice quality.

if they just give you the head back not on a plaque, $200 is high. if it's on some nice wood, $200 isn't a terrible price.

I agree... The most I have ever paid for a skull mount was $150 from a guy in Santa Anna and it was by far the best job I have ever seen!

ALSO ..IF he is not answering his phone and no one can get in touch with him, check and make sure hes not I'll/Dead! I knew a guy who screamed and ranted for months over not getting his mount from a taxidermist only to find out the guy was killed in a car wreck a couple of weeks after he dropped it off!

I pay $75-$100 for top quality euro's on driftwood that can be displayed on a table top or wall mounted. Takes 3-4 months, but I have never been disappointed. The guy tries to serve mainly his local area, East Texas. I went with shoulder mount this year, so I didnt see him, but I think he may have went to $125. It is still worth every penny.

I just called the B & K processor where I go every year in Bronte and the gentleman was very helpful. Seems like the guys screwed over alot of people and everyone is looking for their mount. He's still in town but don't know much more than that. I guess the only thing I can do is contact the Chamber of Commerce and the Sheriff.....see if that can get me anywhere. I really just want my boy's mount but if that can't happen at least he'll regret what he did to alot of good people.
