Nice man! If I go custom , I am going to explore that round. Im wondering if the ammo will be produced more since I dont produce my own. I like the coopers as well.

the 6.5 is a little faster, case capacity of the 6.5-284 is 66 grains of water, the 260 is 53.5 grains. So case capacity is abotu 23% more for the 6.5-284, then with pressures being equal the 6.5-284 should he in theory about 8 to 9% faster with the same weight bullet. typically when increase the case capacity from the wild catters rule of thumb velocity should increase about 4% of the case capacity increase.

is it better than the 260 that all depends on what you are trying to do with it. Both are very good IMO.

Nosler, HSM, Black Hills and Norma currently load for it and I think Hornady has added it to their line. There are a lot more selections for the 6.5-284 now than there were when I bought my first 7mm-08. At that time remington was the onl one loading for it. Will it ever be as popular as the 7mm-08, I doubt it but I think you will see it more available in the future.

Quite impressive...I have been reading up on a possible barrel swap for one of my guns and have looked at that one real hard. The only negative I have heard is barrel life but they are winning a ton of stuff with that caliber right now.

yea barrel life not as good as some but better than others. the way I look at barrel life is if you shoot enought to burn one out then you must have enjoyed the gun and had fun gettign to that point, that are several good barrel makers that make replacements so if shot out, put another tube on it and enjoy

nice. what mounts and optics you putting on it?

if comes with standard Leupold turnin bases on it, so going with those for now with a Kahles scope that is in the safe. Trying to decide what the next scope setup will be but the Kahles will serve well for now.

the new 1" tube summits in S&B cant be beat. Bet it isnt much more than a kahles
