Unsure what those 264 ballistics are
For sure close to a 7mag or better, shorter, less recoil

Like other have said it is a good round. Have one in Tikka T3 hunter, in that light of a rifle it kicks plenty but shoots accurate enough and hits with authority.

i have a tikka t-3 hunter in 270 wsm. it is the best rifle i have ever owned. super accurate,awesome trigger,smooth as glass action,even comes with bases and rings. the round is a great round. i have been very pleased with mine,i will never part with it.

shot a few different rifles, guided a few hunters who had it.
great round, i would say better than .264 performance, as good as a 7 mag but more efficent.
recoil wasn't brutal, flat shooting and accurate
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

my father has a 270 wsm and a 264 and his favorite is the 264 I also have both and like the rifle the 270WSM is in a lot better tnan the 264, but both are very good rounds

The 270WSM is a excellent cartridge!! I prefer a Win. Model 70 Featherweight in 270WSM.

2 hunters on my place are using .270WSM, I've shot both of their rifles (one is a Savage, one is a Sako) and I like it. Used the Sako to take a nice sized hog back in Nov., and it was DRT. Of course my '06's and 8mm Mausers do the same thing. I do like that Sako, though.

The 270WSM is what the 264 was designed to be but is not. 140gr bullet at 3200 fps, but the 270's bullet has a better BC and the 264's velocity has been lowered to 3030.
I own both and like both. With reloads, they are very close. My 264 with 125gr Parttions at 3300fps, has essentially the same performance as my 270WSM using 130gr Accubonds at 3250 fps.
With factory ammo, the 270 WSM wins.

That .270WSM ammo is a bit pricey, though. Heck of a good round. I just got dies for it not too long ago and am going to start making test boxes for those 2 rifles I mentioned earlier. Have to get a neck sizing die first, I got the full length set now.

right on better than the .264 and right up there with the 7 mag. But more efficient! Maybe even more accurate with the short case design.

I think even more accurate than the .264 which always has been real picky shooting round. The newer wsm case design is meant to be more accurate in most rifles. Before you tell me your 264 shoots half in groups i am just talking about what we have experienced with the round.

I would agree that the 264, on average, would probably be a little more "challenging" to find an accurate load for.
