I made a trap recently and I've only put it out once last weekend, I was hoping to get a raccoon but instead I got a possum in it, it was released. Nonetheless, what bait would yall recommend for raccoons. I tried bacon grease and dog food together and that's what I caught the possum on. It's one of those walk in trap I made out of an old dog cage.

I used a mixture of peanutbutter and marshmellows and another of tuna and flour to thickin it up to a paste..Both worked for me this year in Duke DP traps..

peanut butter, marshmallow or something else sweet. most coon baits you can buy from trapping sites/catalogs are sickly sweet smelling. that way there is less of a chance on getting coons.

if you are trapping/hunting coons where they are constantly in trash & such, sweet may not always work.

mini marshmallows, scatter around then mash some onto/ under the plate or in front of it for leg traps. Also heavly salted tuna ( keeps it from smelling up the area.) works well...

Nilla wafers and honey worked for me, tuna caught house cats.

I use a small can of cat food or tuna when trapping them out of the hen house. Don't need to open it all the way - just crack it enough to let the smell out.

I find the best way to get raccoons to come in is to declare that I am after hogs. Doesn't matter what I put down, the raccoons find it before the hogs and clean it up.

I used allot of sardines which worked good but you caught to many skunks. I swiched to Nilla Wafers and that worked very good.
