Hello folks, got a question about the laws here in TX. concerning FFL transactions. Are the transactions supposed to be FFL to FFL dealer. OR Seller can send his gun thru mail to an FFL dealer . And if seller is asked whats in the box,,,to just say its metal parts and go on. ? Which is right for I am new to this. I found a gun for sale from an individual from NY. He told me I was told wrong about him as the SELLER to just simply ship to an FFL DEALER. What is right thing to do and or how is it done correctly ? Thanks.
I don't know you, but I have met you a thousand times.

Federal law allows anyone to ship to a FFL. Some states do not. You mentioned mail, which is troublesome for individuals as well. UPS and FEDEX are common carriers which are legal. There's no need to lie about the contents, although they will make you pay for an adult signature required and handguns would have to be shipped via AIR/NEXT DAY by their corporate policies not law.

SIG, is there an xtra charge for going thru UPS or FEDEX as a Seller. I don't know what the laws regulate up in NY but the seller said it was wrong when asked to ship as parts . The seller told me to find someone else as this didn't fly straight with him. I just don't want any trouble with the law.

Yeah I am not a fan of calling it parts, although some do. Since the law and UPS allow guns, why not call it a gun?
