Do hogs nest? I walked up on a nest last night in the SHNF that was big enough for me to lay in and I'm a big guy. It wasn't dug out but grass and leaf litter was piled up around it and it was in an oval shape. I found it in the middle of a thicket. Any ideas on what it could be?

There use to be a bar called "The Boars Nest" on that TV show The Dukes Of Hazzard. So yes they nest.

There will be eggs there soon. You probably found a place where they laid up for awhile between meals.

Hogs probably. I believe it would just be called a bedding area and not a nest...

Yes I have seen them make a nest and came upon them with little ones while in a nest. They actually do it quite often. I am sure some one else will chime in and tell you about it.
If some animals are good at hunting and others are suitable for hunting, then the Gods must clearly smile on hunting.

That is why there is so many of them. They can lay a dozen at a time.
You can't fix stupid but you can numb it with a 2x4

Sows will build a big nest to birth in and they will stay there for a few days , at least the tame sows I had in school did. I ran them free range. I have always heard them called sow's nests

Spooked a big boar off of a "nest" in a big clump of marsh grass in a thick wet area. He waited until I was 10-15 feet from him when he busted out of there. Got my attention to put it mildly.
