Anyone use this brand? Thoughts? Vet recommends it, but he also sells it. I currently use Iams.

I've never used Muenster but I just switched to Victor brand dog food. It's good stuff especially considering the price. Check it out, its made here in TX.

Interesting site. I've not heard of those 5-Star foods (doesn't mean anything, I'm no professional). My last (1st) dog was raised on ProPlan and then Iams Active Maturity which were rated lower on the tier. He lived to 14 and was very healthy until advanced age and it was his joints that gave out.

My last good dog lived to 17 on Old Roy. My buddies told me that stuff would kill him. Guess it finally did.

The new bird getter is getting Sam's equivalent of Dog Chow's Working Dog food... She's earning it too!

yeah I think some people overanal-yze most things. My lab is now 18 months old and works her tail off and is surviving fine on Members Mark Active Dog Food, purple sack.

I did notice that Muenster has a new high performance dog food, with no wheat or corn and it's only $25 for 50 lbs. I'm going to give that a try on a couple of dogs and see how they do. I feed 50 lbs a week and that could save me a bunch O $$.

Parker, I fed Muenster to a couple of Curr dogs I had. Both had massive diarrhea. I ended up feeding it to the catfish.

Also, tell your vet to pound sand. These are working athletes. They need a quality food.

Muenster is the BEST dog food I have ever fed. Been on it for years. I use the green bag adult small chunk. I have been to 4 different vets and a couple dog groomers and the first thing they always say is "what are you feeding that dog". They say my dog has the best coat they have ever seen. Muenster has omega3 and diatemacious earth in the food, very good for your dog. Me and a few locals here use it and we notice that our dogs dont get allergies and stuff like some dogs do, dont know if this is the reason or not. I don't work for them or sell it, I just think it is great dog food.

Funny how we all have the same story, with a different food. Zeke was complimented like crazy at training clubs and the vet (my vet is good so I only had one ) for his coat and his super white teeth.

Kinda makes you wonder how much is dog and how much is it the food.

I would highly discourage using Muenster foods, the beet pulp filler is known to cause ear infections.

I was unable to figure out why my Lab continued to get yeast infections in his ears, even after medical treatment and daily cleaning, until I did some research about Muenster due to some diarrhea issues that I believe were also caused by the food.

Be careful how you draw your conclusions.

Just because your dog is allergic to something in the food (beets?), doesn't mean ALL dogs are allergic to that food.

Just because I'm allergic to peanuts doesn't mean ALL people are allergic to peanuts.

On another note, My Dog has only eaten this food for 5 yrs and never developed these ear infections it is suppose to cause.

My dogs get Blue Buffalo Salmon. I used to feed em nutro, then i switched based on the advice of a friend. Good advice.

Coats are shiny, poop is smaller, energy is really good (even my 11 year old GSD is running all over the place), no health problems with either dog (knock knock).

It's a little more, but my results are very positive.

I know people who smoked and drank every day and lived into their 90's, but you can't tell me either one of those habits are good for you.

That's fine if you want to feed your dogs cheap food. But you can't argue that a better food will most likely equate to a healthier dog. There will always be exceptions though.

We tried it and had disastrous results. Unfortunately it was over Christmas. What a mess!! It was the 26/16 formula with no corn.

Went back to Eukanuba.

First of all, Muenster Milling is a Texas Institution in my opinion.

However, all of their foods contain fillers. As far as yeast infections, corn/corn gluten and wheat are ingredients that some dogs are allergic to and will create a field for yeast infections to manifest the allergy. I had this problem in two of our Brittanys.

I was advocate of Purnia Pro Plan for years. This past year, whatever they did to their recipe did not agree with our kennel anymore.

As of now we are feeding Diamond Naturals, and we are getting very good results plus the price is commensurate with Muenster.

My only comment is to make sure the first ingredient is Chicken, Lamb, etc. Not rice filler or some sort of "meal". I have I feed Iams Naturals. its about $1/lb. I have also fed ProPlan.
