I picked up a new 375 a few weeks back, i finally got a chance to get some ammo and ive gone thru 2 boxes and i have to foce down on the bolt handle to get it to close. Only some small scratches on the brass. Any ideas on what might be going wrong.

Factory ammo or reloads?

Look for marks on the bolt lugs. My dad had the same problem once. Turned out the screws for the scope base were too long.

Could be several things.

First thing that comes to mind is that the over all lenght on the cartridge may be slightly too long. I had that problem with a box of factory Remington 300 Ultra mags.

Could also be some fouling build up in the chamber that needs to be brushed and cleaned out.

Also might be a good idea to get the head space checked.

Not saying this is the problem. Check the chamber I once had this problem on a 243 that I bought used. Loaded first shell and it felt tight. after firing bolt would not open. After some prying the bolt opened and out with the spent cartridge came a cleaning patch. hammer

First thing I would do is try a different ammo.

BVAC? Have you tried another brand of ammo such as Remington, Winchester, Federal, etc...?

Sounds like the ammo is long or the chamber is pretty shot. Should honestly make for a more accurate shot. If its really bad I'd have remington on the phone.

I would take it back to where I got it and show them what is going on with it. Let them sort out the problem instead of you spending more money on ammo.

Where did you buy the gun? With a new gun, that should not be happening under any circumstance.

You state that it is a 375, is that a 375 H&H or 375 Ruger?

Check the scope mount screws, I can't tell you how many Times I have had 700's come in the shop wiht this very problme and it turns out to be the rear screws in the front holes, very easy to do.

I would check to make sure the ejector is not causing issue, make sure it is rounded on the tip and make sure it slides without binding in its hole. The first sign of an ejector issue is the case will be marred on the head. Then if that is okay it is probably short chambered or ammo issue.

December is only two months ion the past.

Why not take it back to Cabela's, and let them check it out first?

I wouldn't do squat except call Remington. They are responsible for it.

Are you feeding from the magazine or loading singles straight into the chamber?

Shouldn't matter for a Remington now a CRF action is a diffrent story they all depend on how tight the extractor cut is.

make sure a cleaning patch isn't stuck in front of the bolt.

my 700 was real hard to move the bolt after firing a round, a file to the knobs one the end of the bolt solved that, much smoother action now

I didn't think a 700 would be CRF, but never had one in .375, either! Thanks
