Guys, I found a real nice lease in West Texas (way out there). Its way out there but the drive is worth it. Lots of deer and quail. The manager of the ranch is very nice and accomodating. His name is Mike and his phone # (432) 345-6730

"west Tx" is a big area. Can you narrow that down a little please?

Yes, its about 30 miles SW of Sheffield or 34 miles NW of Sanderson. Very hilly and 1/2 of property is rugged. I fell in love with the place. There are 2 different campsites.

I spoke to the man today. Sounds like a great place, he is looking to put 24 total hunters at 2750 each.

I jumped on it after I looked at the place. Lots of different terrain and some of it is unaccessable except by horse or walking in on foot. My kind of place.

I've hunted that area, and while there can be pretty solid deer, the population density is very low. How large is the ranch?

24 hunters out there sounds like too many unless it's 50,000 acres.

That all depends on what rules the rancher has in place, and how many folks will be there at any single time.

If the place covers 12,000 acres, and is broke up into 12 pastures of 1,000 acres each, that would be only 2 hunters per pasture.

The camp sites might be communal, and people do not have to interact if they don't want to, now do they?

If the place is bigger than 12,000 acres than the problem(?) is even more minimal.

So TRUE! I managed 20 hunters on the W.E. Allen ranch outside Junction Texas and my phone rang constantly. It was 5800 acres but It was like who is the biggest bully in the sand box and why won't they stop taking my tonka truck away from me.....

Try to get half those hunters to agree on where on the ranch that they want to hunt!.....Good luck!

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

The ranch manager told me that most of the hunters hunt in ares they can drive to and still have plenty of room. I also talked to some of the hunters who were out there quail hunting and they told me that everyone killed very nice bucks and some muleys also. About 1/4 of the ranch isnt hunted much at all because of accessability. Also saw worlds of deer and blue quail just driving over the ranch once. Am going back in the next couple of weeks and riding over it horseback to ckeck out the rough country.

Me and my dad hunted that ranch for over 35 years, im only 26. Lefty Walker was the owner till he passed a couple years ago, my grandfather and him were best friends, his daughters now own it. Mike is a good guy and I still occasionally talk to him. We hunted with him for 5-6 years, untill he started asking to much to hunt out there. You will see 10-18 different deer a sitting. The biggest deer we killed off it in 35 +/- years was about 140" 9 pt. It was probably the biggest whitetail I have seen anyone kill out there, and about 5 years ago someone killed 160" Mule deer, very uncommon for out there. The deer tend to be about 85-90% Whitetail and 10-15% Mule deer. Pm me if you would like some details as to where to set your blinds, hunting it, etc..

We run exotic hunts year round, common exotics, Pere David, Oryx, Nilgai, Dybowski Sika. Email me if interested in pricing. Britton.iranch@yahoo.com or check us out on facebook, The Inheritance Ranch.
