sorry to have another kimber 1911 post...third in 3 days...been doing a lot of research on my next gun. never been big into lasers but someone is offering me a used kimber with the CT laser grips and i had a few questions if any of you have ever used them. Does anyone know if the KIMBER crimson trace lasers come on when you put the gun in your hand or do you have to activate it? in other words i want to know if the laser will come on as soon as i pick up the gun...seems like that would be annoying...thanks for your help

No, they won't come on unless you hit the pressure plates near thumb. In addition they have an on and off switch you can turn off if you don't want them coming on.

I just got the Crimson Ultra. I think it would be hard to shoot it with the switch in the on position and not hit the activation button. However the switch is easy to control on the handle. The issue I've got is due to the location of the lazer your distance setting is pretty limited. Basically the lazer points off to the left and you have to decide where you want to meet the lazer in the middle.

I have not taking it to the range so I don't know how easy it is to adjust or how much it really matters on the short range shots.

Don't get caught up in the chasing of the little red dot. Learn to use the pistol as it was intended. If you are ever in a true need for your weapon you will not even notice the laser. Something to think about, at least it was for me.
