Price is similar but I can probably do the spikes myself and live about 65 miles from Brandon.

This is for a precision rifle that I will hunt with. Bull barrel so its not a drag through the dirt zombie killer. I want a light and crisp as possible without spending $200+ on a timney or comparable that can be dropped down real light.

I read that thread but didn't hear anyone mention what weight is expected on the spikes. Also can't view any online information about it at work. Is it just a FCG or is it more of a drop in replacement?

how much dissassembly is required to install?

I'm curious as to the answer of this question myself. I'm going to do one or the other but would like to hear from people who have used both, or Brandon's opinion. Where the heck is he this morning, anyways?

It's not a drop in so it's going to take a little work to install it. AR15's are pretty easy to work with. I have built 2 lowers and I have never work on a ar before. there is plenty of videos online to help if you get into trouble when you’re working on it. I wish I had mine already so I could tell you more about it but it should be in any day if you feel like waiting. I couldn’t find much info or reviews online for the Spikes BT.

Have you tried the JP reduce power spring kit? I had pretty good luck with them in a couple of my AR’s but the DPMS kit I got, the trigger has a ton of creep and it didn’t help much. So I’m going to try the Spikes BT.

The main difference in the Battle Trigger and other mil spec FCGs is teh amount of creep and the crispness (for lack of a better word) on the release of teh hammer. The BT comes with mil spec spring kits so its going to be similar in pull weight to most mil spec FCGs. One thing about the BT is that the spring kits in them are all very consistant and break around 5.75-6.25 pounds. Without a reduced power spring kit you wont get down in the 4 pound range. I will say that a mil spec Spikes FCG is going to be very very similar in creep and break. Their mil spec are come of the best on the market and the Battle Trigger is the same , just coated in NiB.

This is why I dont just add the spring kit alone when I do a trigger job. The only thing you are doing with teh spring kit is reducing the pull weight. Cleaning up fitting and polishing the hammer and trigger is what makes the FCG have a smother more crisp break.

Sounds like the battle trigger isn't all that great for what I am looking for. 6 pounds and 1/2" groups don't easily go hand in hand. I feel like a Timney is what I really need but I am thinking a Spring job by you is what will tide me over until then.

Since this is your precision rifle I would spend the extra money for a better trigger. The gun I'm putting the Spikes BT into isn't my precision rifle. Good luck and hope everything works out.

Don't know if its a precision but its a bull barrel LR-308 and I want to get the 1/2" groups I have read up about online.

Are you loading you owne ammo or just shooting factory ammo. I have a DPMS SASS and I loaded up some Hornady A-Max with Varget powder. Getting really got results with it.

Well what you have to remember about the BT is that it is going to have very little, if any creep and very crisp compared to other milspe FCGs but yes it will be a little over 5 pounds. You might find that one of my trigger jobs will work in your situation but if your pretty picky about triggers then a match grade is probably in your near future. I have a lot of guys that love the trigger job and some that try it and want something lighter. On my precision rifle I do use a 3 pound Timney but most of my other rifles have just a trigger job or a Nib FCG with reduced power springs.

If I remember right I think the 3 pound Timney is around $175. Eitehr way you go let me know and I can get you hooked up.

Im not sure what my pound per pull is - but I got a BT a while back and had Brandon change the springs. It works/feels awesome!

They BTs with the reduced power spring kit like you have usaully break around 4 pounds so Im pretty sure you will be right in there !

The only AR-10 timney trigger I am seeing is 4lb. Weight to me is more important the perfection as far as glass breaking etc. So as soon as I have any business east I'll drop off my lower.

Just picked up 2 Spikes Battle Triggers from Morgan @ DSS. Cant wait to try them out. Ive been hearing good things about them and you cant beat the price.

I can tell you about my experience with Brandon. He did the trigger on my AR, the trigger on my Niece's AR, and the trigger on her husbands LR-308. All of them were great. At the lease this year, we set the 308 on the hood of my Jeep and nailed a target up 100 yards out. Four different guys took one shot each. None of these guys had ever fired an AR platform rifle. You could cover all four holes with a dime. It's worth a 65 mile drive to just let Brandon do all the work and hand you a finished product. JMO.

He's done a job on one of my older AR I believe he said it went from 9.5 (good old stag LPK) to 4.5. That rifle with an m4 barrel shot .75" with military ammo.

So I need to quit jacking around and just get it done.

Just get a Timney drop in and be done with it. I had the NiB trigger in mine for a while and while it's smoother there's still a little heaviness to it.

Timney triggers come set from the factory at 3# and 4# but they are adjustable from 2# to 4# according to what I've read. I just put one in my AR,set at 3# and I shot it yesterday. Best $220 I've spent on it!!

Im going to have to try a Timney one of these days.

jard makes some nice triggers too in just about any weight you want and they also offer fully adjustable single and 2 stage triggers

I have a Jard 1-1/2# trigger on my 10-22 and it is also a very good trigger, It cost about as much as the gun did.
