Been re-loading for sometime now and was needing to get a hold of another .38 / .357 carbide die. My question is ...what is the difference between a 3-die carbide set for .38/.357 mag and a Cowboy carbide 3-die set ? anyone ?

Cowboy dies are bulit to different dimmensions to allow for optimum sizing, expanding, seating and crimping needed to load lead bullet ammo. Seater die designed for use with CAST BULLETS ONLY.
Hope that helps

Same dies. The seating stem is different.

mitchdaddy , Thanks for the headsup on that. I didn't know that. The part that baffels me is that I do shoot cast boolits in my DW -.357 and a T/C .357 Maximum. Their must be a difference in the dies for sizing. Just looking for the standard carbide to add to my arsenal of dies n .38 / .357 Mag / .357 Maximum. I'm thinking that a carbide die for .357 Magnum will size my longer .357 Max brass. Instead of buying a Carbide Max sizing die, I'll just use the .357 Mag carbide sizer die.Might be the cheapest route yet.

Any time I have bought new RCBS carbide dies for any handgun cartridge, the set included seating stems for both round-nose and semi-wadcutter bullets. I know what the catalog says about the Cowboy dies, but I load cast bullets exclusively for my revolvers (and pistols) and never perceived any shortcomings with regular carbide sets. I see no need to spend extra $ on a set of dies, but it's your party. Maybe there is some advantage but I sure don't feel disadvantaged at all.
