I am currently using a Blackhawk Serpa holster for CC, but just recently noticed it is taking the black finish off the frame on the front of both sides of the trigger guard. I'm not happy about it tearing up such a nice gun. What does everybody else use to CC their 1911 and is it scratching it?

Crossbreed IWB. Very comfortable and I've been through a handful. There will be some wear with any holster, but have not noticed too much with this one.

JeffBird--- that's a very good looking holster, unfortunately I can't use IWB holsters because of the Wranglers I wear. It really makes me mad that my duty weapon has zero scratches or scuffs and it's been in and out of the holster for 5 years

Why not just a leather OWB? If you can conceal a SERPA you should be able to conceal anything...

1. It's a Serpa, they're pieces of crap, though they're now 3-generations improved pieces of crap. Friend in my old unit nearly lost his M9 twice to an earlier one letting go of the gun when it shouldn't, so he blew it up and got a Safariland.


Look at the Safariland ALS/SLS holsters. For CCW, Ken Null, Milt Sparks's VM-2 in leather, Raven Concealment Systems or the Kaluban Cloak in Kydex.

Any holster will eventually cause wear depending on the finish of the gun. My Glock has thousands of draws with no appreciable slide wear over a decade of carrying, but several other pistols i've had got more noticeable wear because the finish wasn't as tough.

I love my Comp-tac Mtac, it carries and conceals very well. And they are made here in Texas.

I love my DM Bullard Dual Carry. Have given all other holsters except my bellyband away.

If you want to conceal carry you need to dress around the gun. Hang up the butt huggers and get some bigger pants.

Wont happen, i don't like the way an IWB feels so im not going to get one and im not changing the way i dress, i can conceal a fullsize pistol with the right holster just fine. I just want to find a holster that doesn't take the finish off my gun.



Yes i can open carry with my badge displayed next to it, ut that would be way to much unwanted attention. And yes im looking for a good OWB leather holster.

I really like Tagua holsters. They are cheaper, yes, but they are also very well made and very comfortable. I've got one for my 4" 686, which a big chunk of iron, and it carries well.

If you carry often, it doesn't really matter what holster you use. Your gun is going to lose that NIB look.
