Anyone one have any idea when the notification letters will go out informing that you've drawn a permit for one of the gun deer hunts?

You really don't have to wait. I just got off of the phone with the automated phone service the state has for the public hunting drawing information. Call (512)389-8221 and follow the prompts. You will need your SS # in order to access the info. So far I have struck out on the 5 hunts I have applied for. Oh well! I have too many hunts planned any way.

They started going out day before yesterday and yesterday for the Youth Only gun deer. Instead of calling the long distance number line, call this one 1-800-792-1112, then either enter 5 then 7 or when they ask for the persons extension, dial 98221 and press the # key.

Just called, 0 for 5 on my applications. Looks like it will be up to the LBJ to fill a tag this year.

I'm going to try LBJ this year. How's the lay of the land there? Last year, I went to Caddo in Fannin county. The tree and grass cover is pretty thick. I saw one doe, but I didn't have a permit. Hopefully, I'll get a doe permit at LBJ this time.
