Ok here is the situation, a friend I work with found out her hubby wasnt always going on "hunting" trips and confronted him about it. He spills the beans, pack up all his stuff and leaves. She comes up to me and wants to know if I want a free bow!!!! I dont even know what kind it is but I do know its about 2 yrs old and when bought new was around $900. She hasnt seen or heard from him in a week and now she is starting to liquidate all his hunting gear (she has already burned all his hunting chlothing). What would yall do???

I would be very careful if he goes to get his stuff he CAN report it stolen and you can get busted for receiving stolen property.....

Bill of sale for a small amount. Then she is on the hook and hubby would have to prove that she did not have the right to sell it.

Def go with the bill of sale route. It protects you. Offer to buy the clothes, guns, whatever you can. It's better than them getting destroyed, and if the guy comes back and wants his stuff, sell it back to him. I don't know what else to do.

You can sale it for any amount with a bill of sale and all he can do is being extremely ticked off. I remember about 20 years ago a lady in Lucas found out her husband was cheating on her and so she sold his favorite car a Porsche for $50 dollars when he was out of town with his mistress. Never heard that anything happened to her for doing that.

First thing I would do is run as far away from this as possible, she's going to have some explaining to do before a judge and you'll be right in the middle. Judges frown on the distruction of community property and it's liquidation or disposal should they end up in court. Plus you've come to an open forum and informed everybody with detail's, if you are her friend your not helping her. Since he is a hunter here in TX theres a good possibility he may see this thread and the details given. Theres a good chance he's already identified you, Lord knows you've given enough info.
