I have always liked odd-ball rifles. My thumper is a Big Bore 94 in 375 Win and I love it!!

I have a Winchester 375 Bigbore in the back of the safe that I have been thinking of selling to help fund something else. It is in good shape but someone before I got it drilled and tapped for a sidemount scope, so the holes for that are in the side of the receiver.

That makes a good place to mount the peep or the burris fastfire.

True, I just never have done it. Shortly after getting that rifle I got a Dakota Little Sharps which sees a lot more action.

I've only had 2 of what one might call thumpers, a Ruger #3 in 45-70 and a Marlin in 35 Rem.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

I know it's not what you want but I have been able to play with a 458 Socom on an AR-15 platform for a while. The larger caliber is lots of fun. Everything it hits it makes this big WHOP sound. Big calibers are not for everyone but they are lots of fun.

Here's my "thumper"...., Ruger #1-S 45-70 Medium Sporter with an older steel tube K2.5 Weaver. You can load 'em for fun plinking with light loads of TrailBoss or Unique or way on up past the Marlin level to the Ruger only levels that'll rattle your teeth! I hardly ever go up above trapdoor levels....., really no need to.

I just got a Marlin 444 from a forum member. It shoots the 265 gr pills almost to 1 MOA at 100 yards. I'm thinking it should be HARD on the hogs.

A 300 Win Mag thumps hard enough on both ends for me.
I used to have (pre divorce) an old 45-70 Springfield. You could load it down so it was fairly pleasant to shoot.

I have always liked odd-ball rifles. My thumper is a Big Bore 94 in 375 Win and I love it!! One of my favorite rifles to hunt with is a Marlin 375. Any pictures I have posted with a lever gun, it is that rifle. I never really thought of it as a "thumper" using 200 gr bullets, but I suppose it is. Definately a reload option as ammo is expensive. I have not felt like any of my straight wall cartridges including the 50-70 as expensive to reload. On these the savings are significant over factory ammo IMO.
