The best breakfast burrito in the world can be found at Mendoza's in CLute TX (ritual when hunting the coast). It is a wood shack built on the side of a machine shop. Unbelievable food tho!
In Friendswood, there is a place called La Casita... it is in the middle of nowhere and is probably my favorite mexican food place on the planet.
I now live in Dallas and have not found a consistant winner... they all seem "canned" or a chain with the food quality varying from time to time.

Double Duck, Dude, I feel for you!!! I had the same problem when I lived in Dallas. I even went to Taco Cabana to try to quell the hankering. My advice is to try Herrera's or Papasito's. GO ASTROS!!!!!!

I live here in Dallas (Oak Cliff) and the best I found around here is La Calla Doce right off 12th street!

Blue Goose is pretty good... the food quality varies though from day to day. They have the best pork fajitas I have ever had.
I forgot about one place in Houston called Mexicatessen... if any of you are in the Heights area, this is a MUST for lunch.

Will have to second varmitzfa and jbishop - Mi Familia in Early/Brownwood - the same food different name (El Paseo) in Mineral Wells right there as well. Hard to beat any TaMollys on value - lots of good food for the money imo.

Downtown Dallas by Love Field on Maple is Ojeda's, the very best Mexican restaurant i have ever eaten. When I was going to SMU my freshman year I ate there probably 3 times a week. It is honestly cheaper than groceries and never takes more than 20 minutes to get seated served and finished, even during lunch rush.

In Austin, try Matt's chili rellenos. In Fort Worth, try Fuzzy's tacos (beef, chicken, fish, or shrimp. Also in Fort Worth, try Uncle Julio's Fajitas. In Waco, try Campeche Bakery's Burritos.

It's not there any more... they tore it down and built a duplex there... at least the one on 4th... I miss that place... but I always wondered why there were no stray dogs or cats around that neighborhood

I know that. In fact, they sold that location to another family who opened up a restaurant there that didn't do so well. But to my knowledge the other location is still open on 17th where they actually have the bakery. You can pick up a cake for your quinceanera while you are there.

I don't know that I've ever come across any Mexican food that I didn't like. But Chueys is definately one of the best esp. the fajitas.

Have to agree that Mary's cafe is good and yes they do serve some mexican food, but the only food you really go there for is Chicken fried steak, frog legs and calf fries washed down with some cold beer, the mexican food is merely an after thought.
