The I12 is one of the guns I have been looking at......took it off my list because of this post. What ever I buy is going to have to stand up to extreme abuse.
Isaiah 40:31 "but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

Mine would never jam, it always loaded just fine. Problem I had was I pulled the trigger and it would dent the primer but the shells wouldn't always go off. That got old real quick. -Matt

When mine did that I had never taken it completely apart (thought I was). Cleaned the forward-most 'body' of the bolt and it was full of all kinds of crap that will hinder a good primer strike. Havent had a problem since and you can ask anyone that knows me (some on this forum) about what kind of abuse my duck guns get.

After reading your post the other day, I took the bolt completely apar and it was pretty gross. I cleaned it with some q-tips and break-free. Oiled it and put it back together. I guess now I have an excuse to go shoot some sporting clays soon to test it out. Thanks for the info!
the thing about baiting is, even a rookie hunter could have a 170 bird season if they bait holes

Try it out and let me know. I was about ready to scrap it and get an M2. Read the owners manual and learned something and havent had a problem since.

Say it ain't so...PM me for address to mail in man card I'm just messing with you. I bought a $20 sort of like a Chilton manual for my 391's and it has saved my bacon a couple of times that I wouldn't have known how to tear something apart or down. Gas port cleaning is one and replacing that piece of crap Briley closer another.

Then all the trouble started. After 2 trips back to benelli and 1 trip to a local gunsmith I gave up. MINE was a real POS excuse for a franchi. -Matt

I took the I12 apart and cleaned it really well and it did cycle all three shells when I tested it. Unfortunately I just don't have faith in it, because it worked well when i tested it from the last cleaning. The next duck hunt, I missed several shooting opportunities because of gun malfunctions. I sold my old worn out Remington 1187 to buy the I12 thinking I was getting an upgrade. When I was having problems with the I12, a friend let me borrow his fairly new 1187 and I had great luck with it function wise, and shot very well with it too. We did a little trading, as I had an AR he wanted and he had the 12 gauge 1187 as well as a 20 gauge 1187 to trade. I spent most of the season with the 1187 and had no problems cycling. I might just sell the Franchi, keep the money, and when this 1187 starts acting up just sell it and get me another one. I hate having a gun that is so finicky that it won't cycle without cleaning between every hunt.
