Good deal, I like seeing yotes hanging from the fence. Congrats to the hunter 5 in a day of hunting is spectacular.

Question: That's disgusting. How can anyone do that?
Response: 1. Keep The sun at your Back
2. Make the right call
3. Keep yourself really still
4. Use a .223 caliber with a four power scope

best part was that by page three of the comments they were in a full scale "your momma" rage filled battle!!! hhhahahah...but saddly the scary part is how many nut jobs that were whining about a couple yotes being killed like they were humans or something. Treehuggers make me sooooo made!

It's pretty scary to know there are people out there who think in such a way.

What is scarier is that it only takes one legislator to write a bill that can not only stop it, but also curtail the hunting of coyotes.

I hunted for a turkey farm when I was a kid, about 1975 or '76. I'd hang them up after every night hunting so the owner would know A) that I was doing my job and B) how much to pay me that day. He paid me $1.00/yote, plus ammo and use of a truck with a spotlight. I never left them hanging though. After being paid they'd get tossed into the farm's incinerator.
I was in his office picking up some ammo and being paid one morning and a couple of women came in wanting to know if Mr. Fletcher was the one who was killing "all the poor coyotes?" He allowed as how, "No ma'am, but the boy there's sure givin'em a hard time." They told him I had to stop doing that and he said he'd fire me if they'd pay him $100.00 for every breeder tom and $50 for every hen he lost to coyotes. The women said they couldn't do that. Mr. Fletcher handed me a fresh box of ammo with a grin and said, "Keep killin'em, boy."

What is scarier is that it only takes one legislator to write a bill that can not only stop it, but also curtail the hunting of coyotes. That right there sums it up pretty well. This ain't the same Texas that it was, even up into the mid-1980's. We have millions of folks living here now, both people that have moved here from other states, and unfortunately, native born Texans, that have been reared in our larger cities and have no ties to the land or nature. This little discussion has been played out before on many fronts, and has litle if anything to do with the killing of coyotes. It has to do with Public Image and Opinion. Even though many of us don't agree with it, hunters are becoming a minority in our state, and folks that aren't hunters or landowners simply don't like seeing dead coyotes strung up and down a fence line along side the highway. Fact is some hunters, probably more than anyone wants to think about, don't really like it either. If legislation is presented, it won't be done by a legislator from any of the mpore rural counties. It will be from the metropolitan areas. Texas has basically turned into Colorado, in that most of our population lives in the eatern/south-eastern part of the state, and that is where most of the new Texans have moved into. Also with as strong as the HSUS has become not only in Texas, but all across this country, as a group, we might want to start really concerning ourselves with such things as hanging coyotyes on the fence and what kind of far reaching effects that could have for the future of being able to hunt the critters.

Would have to say that was well worded wanderer. There was a picture in the local paper here after a recent fall coyote contest that actually disgusted me as well as stirred up the populas. As I understand it the fellas running the hunt were going to dispose of all the yotes turned in, all they did is dump the whole pile in the bar-ditch next to the main highway running through this area. How somebody can not think and willingly provide the antis with ammo is hard to comprehend. Good or bad everything we do is open to somebodies scrutiny, and if that somebody is any form of media we better pray it is for the good. Any local rag article can be picked up by the AP and printed across the country.

Well written post Wanderer,
Has anyone else noticed in looking at the maps on election nights the differences of large cities and rural areas. Like in the last presidential election Red being Republican and Blue being democrat states like Ill and Michigan almost the whole state red but the major sities in Blue which Chicago and Detroit have enough votes to carry the entire atate. THose are jsut 2 states as examples abut there is for sure a trend if you look at the last few nationwide elections.
lf the saying "Liar, Liar your pants on fire" were true Mainstream news might be fun to watch
