In or near the ear. I've dropped several 200#+ pigs with a .243 this way. They don't run... they may wiggle a bit but not much.

honestly KC, first shot is head... after that who knows, you'll get broadside shots as they scatter, see rumps and sometimes the dumb ones of the bunch run toward you. The best shot I've seen for a blood trail is quartering away and go about 3" up from the belly line and knock that opposite leg out.

well, when im rifle hunting, i aim for the shoulder most of the time...
When im pistol hunting, and riding chasing them down in some type of off road vehicle, i just aim for the hog, but 90% of the time, it is the spine shot that takes them down.
Had one boar that had like 15 or 16 bullet holes in it, but none of them were spine shots.... one to the spine, and down he went. provided, this was with a 9mm.

Usually in the field or just wherever I see them.

This thread makes me wanna go out tonight You and me both...can't get out til next weekend though...arghhh And it's ear hole for me as well when they're within 150 yards...when they get out further than that I usually lob one in the shoulder. It also depends on how "active" the pig is while feeding...The last one I shot he stood motionless for like 5 minutes eating slowly...the one before that he acted as if he hadn't eaten in a month....kept moving and fidgeting the entire time....he got popped in the shoulder while the first one right behind the ear...neither went anywhere but down....

Usually head. Unless it's a big guy with potentially big tusks that I may want to euro mount. Then its shoulder.

Base of neck given the chance, otherwise just behind the shoulder. I only aim for the ear if they are in a trap, and even then they are typically moving so much that it is only a 50/50 shot.

lone boar running from the truck you just go for the front end if you don't have a good assistant spotlight technician. a bunch of pigs, you just kind of line them up for a shot to be cost efficient

I usually try to aim for the head/neck if a good shot presents itself. Otherwise, depending on what caliber I'm shooting, I'll go for the shoulder or heart area. Barring having a good shot, or in the case where the hog is running, I'll simply try to hit them anywhere I can. I think I'll make my signature-"A hog is nothing more than a bullet receptacle".
A hog is nothing more than a bullet receptacle.
