The ones I am building are going to be 5' long with 5/8" holes. As for number of holes, I try to get a 4 straight lines going down the length of the pipe with about 4 to 5 holes in a line.

5' long is a good length, not too many holes, let em work for it. Gives you more time to get a shot and they will wipe it out quick if there are too many holes. Ours has 6 holes, 5/8" is what we have too.

My pig pipes are five feet long and have only four 1/2 inch holes only, offset 90°. The holes only need to be large enough for the corn to fall through.

A one foot "sent trap" is on one end of the pipe and is used to place scent attractors i.e., apple cores or commercial sent attractors.

As stated above, make them work for the corn. I only put in five pounds of corn at a time. A single boar will work for about three hours working the pipe to get to all of the corn. A small sounder (4-7) will take about 2 hours. Hogs will work pretty hard for a “free” meal of corn.
