Why are they so expensive?

Mostly because it costs a lot of money to breed them. Artificial insemination is expensive and so are c-sections. They are also really popular, for reasons I don't understand.

If you find one for less than a grand, go buy a lottery ticket.

Reel Jerk is right on about the the reason for the high cost. My understanding is it's impossible for them to have a natural birth because of the pup's large heads. They are cool looking dogs (imo), but I think they also tend to have a lot of health problems later on.

I have one aswell. Do your best to talk her out of it. I will loan you mine for a week, betting you being him back sooner. Mine doesnt drool thank goodness, but they snore, fart more than my Vizsla, and go to the vet all to much. Mine was 2700 dollars because on top of the expenses, he was scoped as a puppy and guaranteed against resp. problems. If you dont have them scoped, theres a good chance you just bought an even bigger money pit.

I need to add, the only reason he still has a home is
1. they are funny as hell when you dont want to kill them
2. He cant swim, but will retrieve a bird with the Vizsla.

Hello, Dont mean to but in but maybe i could throw an idea your way. I was reading on this site about kennel set-ups and happened across this thread go figure. I have some pups ava. They are not english they are the old world style of bulldog. Called Olde English Bullgogge. The dogs dont have all the problems like english. Iv strived to keep them clean and free of breathing problems and try hard as hell to keep allergies to a very min. With a good no grain food I have not seen allergies. I keep them outside most the year unless it gets super cold. Feel free to contact me I love talking dogs. Look me up on hoobly. Under olde english bulldogges. Im in floresville tx. cant miss my add I have the best dogs on there lol. im asking 1500 but if you spay i will cut it down alot! shoot you might find yourslf training one of these for all your hunting needs..
