I was thinking about getting me a couple of Johnny Stewart Cd's and just playing them through the speakers on my truck, anyone think this will work very well? Does anyone have any other ideas for under a hundred bucks?

The parts list is as follows:

Mini Amplifier - $15
http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062620

6' male-to-male audio cable - $4
http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102950

Any kind of switch - $3
http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062518

3.5mm male-to-raw stripped wire cord - couldn't find it online, but radioshack has them for $3 as well (this is what you solder to the raw wires of the speco speaker).

Speco PA Horn (saw through other homemade call makers that this was the best one, the one from radioshack will work though) - $25 from DeltaWaterfowl on THF.

Its all extremely simple to hook up, this was the first time I had messed with any kind of soldering iron, and I had no problems with the hookup.

Here's the sites I used for information on the build:

Portable cd players are really cheap...get one, and a musical power horn at Radio Shack for about $40.00, they also have cable-jack that will plug into the cd player and the powerhorn. Really don't need any more than that! Used that set up for several years!

I got a instructional cd with a call I purchased a while ago and I was playing it for a buddy at the deer lease during the morning hunting break. The doors on the truck were open, I had it cranked up and a big dog popped out on the sendero about 150 yds away. We scrambled for guns and ammo but he slowly walked over to the other side and hauled...lol I'm sure it would work. I was thinking if I had my daughters car with her trunk full of stereo I could probably call them from Oklahoma..

What a great idea Ramball! I've about given up on electronic calls because of the cost and I've become a "purist" in my old age - but I think you've got a winner there.

On line - All Predator Calls had them on sale a few years back! Get these cds - Johnny Stewart - Predator Calls CD Vol 1 #CD-PCV1. It has the distress puppy on it which is my primary call. Johnny Stewart uses "original sounds" in all their products....hard to beat!
