My gosh are they enforcing this now? Did you receive a ticket or a warning?

From the public hunting lands map booklet.

What restrictions are in place concerning
the use of dogs?

Dogs may be used for hunting squirrel, rabbits, hares, furbearing
animals, predatory animals, and game birds (other
than turkey) on most units during the open seasons. See the
Prohibited Acts section for rules and regulations concerning
the use of dogs and area maps for further restrictions
concerning the use of dogs.
Owners of dogs brought onto Public Hunting Areas must be
able to show documentation of current rabies vaccination.

Owners are responsible for the actions of their dog and
should exercise control of the dog at all times to assure that
the activities of other permit holders are not interfered with
and that wildlife is not harassed.

First I have heard of such a thing and been checked on APH land with my dog several times. I have never been asked to produce that. But it is plain as day in the rules. And it is not just for rabbit and squirrel hunting, but all hunting dogs from the way that reads.
Thanks for the heads up.

Another one most hunters don't think of is traveling across state lines. Most states require a health certificate to travel with a dog into their state. I have never heard of anyone being checked though, nor am I sure who would be the entity that would check you for it. Highway patrol, Warden, or ?.

That is interesting I guess it is how you interpert "documentation". Glad you all brought this up. I would have said my metal tags are my documentation since that is the purpose of the tag. It documents that the dog has the proper shots. A document does not have to be paper.
But better safe than sorry. You almost need a briefcase of "documents" just to hunt.

Probaly enforcing that due to rabies being at hi level now. With coyotes around, and other users on properties that might get bit and $$$ chaching
