Went out to my buddys lease last week, hunted one of the big stock ponds and end up doing pretty well, since we forgot the waders we used a homemade rig to get all the ducks of the ice.

We ended up losing one of the ducks on the ice that got in a tree, and after trying everything to get it for an hour, i was the one who drew the short stick to go get it. watch

By the way we new how deep the water was before i went in( we've hunted the same pond many times)

Just think of how worth while it would have felt if you had gotten out there and found some metal on that birds leg! Every time i loose a duck that fear sits in the back of my mind...

2 questions... how many miles away was the closest pair of waders? and did it still feel worth it?!?

Well there was no shower at the deer camp, but they did build me a monster fire and there was plenty of beer.

And Reid, we left all of our waders in dallas and the closest store that might have had them was about an hour away. And every year we make our trip to his deer lease we always try and make some memories, and I think that will be one of our all time most memorable hunts, so yea it was worth it.

Roger that. Memories are everything! and to have it on video is even better! i might have used the plywood in the pic to distribute your weight over the thinner ice but the story wouldn't have been near as good nor would my morning. I had to show your video to the guy that runs my service department. had a good laugh.

Been there, recently, no ice thankfully. I did have a roll of 3 mil heavy contractor bags on hand. Not the prettiest waders, but a couple tied up around the legs they kept me dry. Those pictures seem to have mysteriously vanished. wink

I don't know if I'd drawn straws... would have been the shooter, or maybe the lightest to go out and grab 'em.

Got that duck, in the end that is what matters up
