Where have they gone? I usually have them on my place. The places around me usually have them too. For a little over a mile radius around me nobodys seing any. To some this would be good news. Im sorta bummed out over it. I try to kill 2 or 3 a year for needy folks, but its not lookin' too good this year.
With the amount of corn and protien feed piled up under my feeders a person would think they would stay camped out there.

Hogs, if shot at, have been known to move up to 5 miles away in a single night. This was done w/ radio collared hogs. As I am sure you know by now, they are smart. One other reason may be that someone is trapping them in your area.

the habitat that made them come there in the first place is still there ( I'm assuming) so they will probably be back. Maybe deer season or weather changed their patterns?

Don't worry (or worry) they'll be back. You got feeders, "build it and they will come."

All the places I hunt, the same thing happens. They'll be consistent for a month or so then disappear for a month or two. Every location is different and you can only do so much to "pattern" hogs. It shouldn't be too much longer before they start becoming alot more dependent on feeders for food.

Another cheap thing you can do to keep them coming back to your place more frequently is to get a few telephone poles or 4x4's if that's all you can get, cut them into 5 ft sections, cement them with a bag or two of concrete into 2 ft holes with undercuts in the dirt at the bottom of the holes, fill them in then saturate the posts with creasote, used motor oil, or even some hog attractant like Black Gold. This will give them another reason besides food to come back to your place.

Hate those dang hog trappers. Guy down the road has a pen full all the time. Our sightings have ceased.

There is a guy in jack/wise county that must be running 20 traps. I saw him last week and he had a older 32 ft cattle trailer packed full. He has "HOG PATROLL" painted on it.

Since we have had 100000000000000000000000000000000000000023.12 acorns fall this year the hogs and other wildlife are not coming to the feeder at all because there is so many other "green" food sources on the ground Someone told me this once when its green like it was this year a animal can stay and live in a 30' square foot area for weeks its like if i had a kitchen,Beer keg, toilet, and a pretty doe to come by every once in a while i wouldnt leave my room either

its the same for wildlife i would bet there are still hogs on your place but they just get in the brush and stay there

Happens to us this time of year, every year. They are still here at our place but ONLY nocturnal (cams have them coming at 2-3 am).

I believe it happens for two reasons at our place.

1. This is the end of hunting season, every tom, dick and harry have been taking pot shots at them for months now.
2. The acorns drop here in November so they have a good food source until February, so they need to travel very little.

The hunting always gets better at our place from February on, and peaks in Summer. Summer at my place is almost a guaranteed kill 24/7

Everthing was better before they came and now you want them back? I hope I don't ever get them at my Dad's place.

That is almost always bull. These people complain but still charge a bunch of money to let people come in and hunt them. They want them gone so bad start charging a small fee per hog killed and let us thin them down.

When it comes down to it, I like having them around. Not enough deer to matter around here, so hogs are what I go for. They don't bother my cows or goats, I get to hunt all year, they taste good, and stalking them is a blast.

I have the same problem in freestone county. My neighbor is getting hot and heavy into trapping, he said he was getting 50 cents a pound. I wish they would all stop.
