A buddy has a lease in Lampasas. It's been so dry out there he hasnt killed any ducks since the first weekend of the season. The same might be said of San Saba depending on where you go. However the last week or so we've seen a ton of ran so maybe there is water.

Not to be a dick but as far as someone in that area responding I wouldnt hold my breath. If you asked about ducks in an area I often hunt I wouldnt respond because if I said I had a lot of ducks you and countless other "internet scouters" would be swarming the place.

The boys in my crew have no issue with jumping in the truck and hauling a boat or whatever several hundred miles if we know the reports are good. Hell sometimes we do it even when the reports are not all that good even.

I live/hunt 25 minutes N of there on private water 4-5 days a week. Lots of birds in the area right now. Mostly Gadwall, Widgeon, some Redheads, a few Cans, Green Wings and saw a few Mallards this morning. Bird count as of today is 89. So yes I would say there are ducks in the area.

Glad you didn't have to hold your breath very long. It's January birds are covering the state. No public water around here so nobody to compete with. Deer hunters jump ponds with lead anyway so it keeps birds moving. Get up here and hunt.
