If this has been posted I apologize and if you could direct me to the link even better. I am interested in one of the tactical .22 like Sig, H&K etc. that are modeled after an AR. Anyone have any experience with any of these? Thanks

The Sig 522 is fun. I had a GSG5 for a while and definately liked it a lot. (Has the "cool" factor).

From some of the research I've done on them the only one that seems to not prefer just certain ammo and will run with just about anything you feed it is the Sig.
It also is the only one that has a milled aluminum receiver which probably has a lot to do with dependability because of more rigidity, as the others are all polymer.

Here is my personal COON KILLER MP 15. I love this gun and it is awesome. CCI ammo and never has failed........ Never realized these babies are so much fun and great to hunt with. What Brand Tac-Vest is that ? Does it have expansion slots for plates ?

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=211859167I'm a minimalist, For a 22LR to be loaded with inert look alike gadgets is a waste and a pain to clean. The 34" Ruger 10/22 compact with laminate and 16" barrel with a steel lip 25 round magazine gets her done just fine.

They look cool but thats it for me. After many years of using combat rifles, in combat, I don't need to play anymore.
There just ain't nothing like the trim lines of the old Mini-14,30, M1's,or Ruger 10/22 for me.
Those pistol grips, carrying handles, front grips, sight mounts, flash suppressors, bayonet mounts, and so on, serve no use on a DEFENSIVE RIFLE in the States. I won't even go as far as to call it an "Assault" weapon or "Tactical" weapon since most everyone here should never find themselves in that position.
Keep playing and spending money, nuthin wrong with that.

I agree to an extent - but if you have the money and want a "toy" to mess around with (responsibly) then I don't see an issue with it.

This is for my boys, I shoot a Winchester 9422 and will take that over the 10/22 any day, I have had several. Im just happy that I am able to get them out and hunt and shoot and if it takes buying something they deem cool then so be it. I really think its kinda cool there are so many choices. We had a bolt action single shot and then moved up to a bolt action with a 5 shot clip and a 4X scope. Anyway thank you all for the input, I believe I will go have a look at an MP15! Wow there may be a Winchester 9422 in classifieds.

Yeah, minimalist is the way to go these days. I mean, look at what our boys are carrying. M4s with Trijicons/EoTechs/Aimpoints, weaponlights, laser aiming units/designators, foregrips, collapsible stocks, M203s.....I'd say pretty much minimal equipment when sticking it to the bad guy in this day and age.
There's nothing wrong with a Ruger 10/22 but you've got to be kidding me about cleaning the M&P. The bolt drops right out after a pin push and you pull a patch through. Done. Tell me how many steps it takes to pull the bolt out of a 10/22.

"our boys" Better read closely because over here you ain't "our boys" or facing "our boys". I guarantee I know what kinda day it is. Like I said before,(I) find all that crap a waste of time in our environment. Some folks get off on looking like a "our boys" or playing combat video games. Yes, the rifles are easy enough to clean for many people, I'm not fond of them. I find the 10/22 opens up for a better cleaning job. I understand some folks think we are at war, I see truck loads of hillbillies everyday with no teeth but they have plenty of money for cigarettes and assault weapons. Both are worthless to me.

Assault weapons for many of the gang types simply take the place of accuracy. Throw lots of lead and hope you hit something, not to say that just because you are shooting one that you are not a great shooter. People posting on here and reading these articles would take offense because I guarantee you everyone of them takes pride in accuracy. The hillbillies you describe and simple street thugs are not reading THF and have probably never been taught to draw a bead. Give them an AK and one of these readers a single shot with iron sights and I will promise you these readers would still be walking. It is simply a time of new and better toys, video games such as Black Ops that simulate what all of this stuff without any real danger. While that may or may not be worthwhile it will never go away. It is because of people like my dad, a purple heart from the Pacific in WWII, people like Luckenbach and everyone else that either served or is serving that allows all of us to access weapons of our choosing. I can also guarantee you that if you or your family were in peril that myself, my boys and probably 95% of the guys on here would grab up that 10/22, mp15 or whatever they have easy to clean or not and stand beside you. Its just who we are.

Back on subject, I bought a Sig 522 from Buds Gun Shop. It is super fun and easy to clean. I put a cheap red dot on it from Primary Arms anyway the gun is a blast to shoot and accurate.

I had a SW 15-22 , swapped it for a Sig 522. The sig is more accurate and feels more like a "real " rifle. Both of them sound the same with the suppressor.
