This year has played heck on my "hunting time" with working out of town all week and trying to keep up with family obligations on the weekends before going back out of town again each Monday morning at 4 AM. Well, the company I WAS working for is shutting its doors so I am going to take advantage of a few days off and go spend a little time in an old favorite duck hole. The boat and trailer are out of commission being repainted so it looks like a mile walk in carrying the gear but I really dont mind it cause I cant wait to see that morning sun peeking and hear the rush of wings!
I've got the A-5 cased and enough Bismuth to do the trick. Just pitched an odd assortment of dekes in a bag and the coffee pot set for 3:45 (the hole is on public water so I gotta get there early to fend off the barnies). Hopefully I will have a good report tomorrow when I get back!

Oh, and if anyone knows of anybody lookin for a good safety and operations admin guy in the DFW or surrounding area please let me know! I've spent the past 3 years in the Shale plays and would like to stick around the house for awhile!!

Just walked in the door. Very few birds seen and ZERO shots fired. I knew the odds were against me having not scouted at all this year but.........I did have an enjoyable morning and it felt dang good standing crotch deep in cold water with dekes out in front of me and a hot cup of coffee balancing in the fork of a willow tree!
Only saw one other group of hunters (hey guys dont forget to charge the battery on the boat this evening so you dont have to pull it thru to your spot LOL) and heard another group shoot a few times.
The duck hunting fever is definately back and I have all year to get ready for next season!

PS: If your the guys with the dead boat battery this morning it was nice to meet ya'll and good luck the rest of the season. I wont mention any location so as not to out ya!
