I just got back from there.

Crowd was not too bad early due to the rain.

One thing that really pizzed me off bad was one of the magazine dealers. Its the dealer with the balck and white sign that says "CLIPS" in big black letters on thier banner. When I walked up there I asked if the 9mm 33 round mags they had were Glock factory mags. She said yes and handed me one. I then told her I would take it and I walked over to the register. The price was clearly marked "$39.99" but then the other lady walked over there and snatched the sign off and told me they were $49.99. I just walked away and bought them at another place that were still the regular price of $39.99. They were clearly trying to capitalize on the perceived demand for these things after the recent shootings in Arizona. If they want to jack up the price then thats fine......but dont post a price and then when someone wants one jack it up $10.

I have done a ton of buisness with those people over the years but I wont anymore. Oh......and there were plenty of other people jacking thier super hi-cap Glock mag prices up too. Saw several places that were $59.99.

You should have made it a point to let the lady know you were going to buy it someplace else for $39.99 !! I cant stand those type of places. bang

At that point I really didnt care. It cost them my future buisness and the sale of 4 other mags that I decided I wanted later on in the show.

The fact that political events (especially those as tragic as the arizona shooting) cause gun show prices to fluctuate that wildly make me really not want to go there. It just feels seedy to me.

Gun shows are pretty much just the opposite of what they started out to be. Used to be a gathering for at least somewhat knowledgeable shooters and hunters to buy some guns from reputable people and dealers at good prices.
Now they are for the most part a bazaar for rip-off artists to sell their wares to unsuspecting hordes of people at jacked-up prices.
I was there today.80% of the tables are for black rifles, automatic pistols, and their accessories. The selection of hunting shotguns and rifles was pitiful and the ones there were all WAY overpriced.
Now I remember why it's been 3 years since I went to the last one.

The last Ft Worth show, a couple of weeks back, had great attendance and according to a dealer I spoke to, folks were buying. However, I hear what you are saying. Take out all the flea market junk and the black stuff and there were about a hundred tables displaying hunting and collectable arms. I know I'm getting on in years, but the stuff that sells in volume today just does not appeal to me.

Agree with you on those but ocassionally still fun across something that is just hard to passup. Usually these come from some individual there with one table or someone walking around selling something that interests me.

A few that found a new home from Gunshows:
Remington 700 classic in 350 Remington Mag
Ruger #1 International in 275 Rigby (7X57)
Custom 44mag bolt action carbine
Couple of old model bearcats
Winchester 62A from an individual walking around
Dakota Little Sharps

Found a Series 70 Gov. 9mm W/Box talked him down to $725. Fair price on that, but there was slim pickens on deals unless you worked hard on the Haggle. To many "little" kids. Overall it was Ok.

I went there specifically to find a bolt hunting rifle. Way over priced, in my opinion. Not real impressed like the gentlemen said above about selection of hunting products.

I agree and thats a real shame. One thing I will say about the gun shows is that they do offer excellent people watching. You can also find decent ammo deals if you spend some time looking around and then ask if they will match or beat other prices.
