I have 2 ruger .44 mags, both 7 1/2" barrels. I want to sell one and keep one. One is a '72 old model and one is a new model, both clean, but the old model has a great shine and finish on it. Has anybody ever sent an old model to ruger for conversion and if you did did you like it when you got it back? I like the old model better but it's kinda unsafe to carry around with 6 bullets in the chambers. Would you sell the new model and get the old one converted or sell the old model?

Sell the new one, keep the old one and FORGET having it converted. The value of the pistol will be cut in half with the conversion. There is a healthy mark up in value for an old Super Blackhawk. Leave it alone.

Sell the new. Do NOT convert the old. If you sell the old one do some research and set the price accordingly. Yes its unsafe. All of mine are unsafe. But they are not going anywhere. Safety is a new thing to compensate for stupidity and lack of knowledge.
OK, I'm ranting, sorry. New safety programs at work, cant walk fast and stuff!!!

Keep the old one; just load 5 to carry. BTW, if you send it back for the conversion, the old parts are returned with it. The "collector" value is not hurt- as long as you don't lose the old parts. Anyone who has ever had an old Ruger Blackhawk apart can put the old ones back in.

Thanks for your suggestions, I'll definitely keep the old model. El Numero, that's a good point. Thanks to all.
