You know there was a video of a kid that built his own little surface drive for a small skull looking boat. It was great! It hauled but for a little boat like that.

I am in the process now of builing a very small sneak/skull/layout boat. I am to the point now the frame is done but I am dreading the fiberglass work. I freakin hate fiberglass work.

My wife is awesome. I told her the 5 hp pressure washer is broken and it will cost $180 to fix it. You know what she says to me? SHe says well why don't you just buy a new one and use the 5hp motor off the broken one to make a long tail mud motor for your sneak boat. No wonder I married that girl.

My bad I knew GT stood for gator tail. I was looking at gator trax boats at the time I was replying.

Well most of the area I plan on hunting wouldn't need any major mudding to get to. Of course there will be shallow water, no rocks and small amount of veggies. I don't think I'll need a reverese, but neutral is a plus.

WAL was saying something about the trim being set or something needed to be adjusted. If I can get away without power tilt/trim I'll do it but if not than yes to power tilt/trim.

+1 I just wish I could get my wife involved in duck hunting.....I'd most definitely get a lot of new gear and the stuff to finish my project boat that has been on hold for 6 months......

hey i know that guy too. his name is terry and the guy can flat out drive one of these MM. let me assure you he did not get stuck and probably has more hours on the tiller than alot of us put together. He is best fiends with Kyle Broussard, founder of Gatortail and the surface drive. he was one of the first ones to ever have one.

yeah I could definitely tell that guy had some stick time!!! I was just mentioning how that GT reverse made a helluva mess in that stuff. I can't see a PD doing that, but can't find any videos of a PD like that and haven't personally experienced it YET! But when the lake floods down here the veggies gets NASTY! So we'll see!

I really can't wait for that mud run, and to see some "real" rigs!

Gatortail now makes what they call a hunt deck that you can get as a feature on their boats. it actually takes the motor and sits it back bout a foot and half from the regular transom. it keeps alot of water and mud from coming back in to the boat that way. its a pretty neat concept. and dont worry, when you take that PD through the veggies, it wont let you down. with them being weighted back like they are it helps going across matted grass, like in that video.
