Hey guys. Are you aloud to carry a side arm like a pistol on you while hunting hogs?

On public land no, unless you have a concealed hand gun license.
On private land, depends on the land owners rules.
On your land, sure!!

State and federal parks do not allow open carry of handguns, even while hunting, as far as I am aware.

Coming from Arizona, I was surprised to learn Texas didn't have open carry. I meant it's Texas!!! For me open was most useful when hunting, didn't have to remove or try to conceal my sidearms when going back into town for lunch, etc. How ever, my AZ CHL was good in TX until I got my peace officer license, which kinda helps me carry where ever when ever.

You can carry a pistol concealed on public land in Texas as long as you have a Concealed Handgun License, or an equivalent license from another state with reciprocity with Texas. You cannot "open carry" a handgun on public land at all in Texas.

I would LOVE to see Texas go open carry. I get so tired of worrying about who sees my effing pistol. It pisses me off to no end living in a world where people react to seeing a holstered pistol as if it was some kind of effing Medusa! Don't get me started! At least I can sympathize with those poor muslim women now, having to stay all covered up for fear of the crazy people, lol.

I prefer concealed...... and I'd prefer a much more rigorous training program and qualification course.

I don't want a double buscadero rig, I just want to be able to wear a belt holster under a shirt and not worry if it prints...
