Is this for a pet? more info needed. If it is for a pet, check your local classified.
I'll take a Black Female every time.

Welcome to the forum. Why do you want a weimer?

Welcome to the forum. Why do you want a weimer? X2 As a matter of fact I have a new litter of Vizsla puppies that are now 5 days old. Short haired like a Weim but "more purdy" IMO

Look up north texas weimeraners club, most of local pups are backyard types, to find a "get it done dog" wheather quail, retrieving, or all around id go unto another breed, Back in 65-78 I went thru several and saw/judged hundreds in field, Finised 3 in field and 5 retrieving, 2 obedience,an 1 in bench> had 1 exceptional good one, That could run, retrieve with other breeds and was great dog and picked up placements in weimer nationals and other breed trials. Id say 99% are notworth having as workin dog, But over all i like them Just have to be lucky to find right one as theyve been bred away from standard.,

All good questions and I guess I posted a little hastily. I'm looking for a field-bred Weimaraner for upland bird hunting and maybe some regional hunt tests. Not looking to run the field-trial circuit, just a good meat dog and family companion.
I don't want a rescue dog...I prefer starting with a pup. I particularly enjoy the raising and training aspects and have walked many a mile behind bird dogs that I've worked with.
The reason for a Weimar? Hard to nail down exactly...I guess you could just say personal preference...maybe I just like the looks of 'em.
I've hunted behind shorthairs and setters, spaniels and pointers, brittanys and wirehairs...One thing I've learned is to love 'em all.
I was just kinda' looking for a Weimaraner this time since I never had one own me yet.
I'm not in any kind of super hurry to get one, since I'm looking for one with from the right stock (at least) to start out with.
I'm not against any of the other breeds...As a matter of fact, some of my best dogs were aquired while looking for something else.
My ideal brace of dogs right now (in my mind's eye) is a Weimar/Vizsla pair for upland birds, and big bruisin' lab for waterfowl.
Just puttin' some feelers out, guys.
Thanks! Dave

Kinda funny really about interest in trials an such.. Itll happen beleive me as it did to me, Saw first ones at pk lake back in fifties, at ceder crest lodge. Old dog an bitch guy brought african lion up an had on leash in parkin area these 2 came flyin up from dock an got slapped 15ft. backwards, ended that real quick, In 68 wife brought one home from pet story(10 weeksold an rangy lookin, wormy mess an sick pup, I saw it an started to return it,I didnt that dog turned into turned into greatness that fall at less than yearold, shot sever hundred quail in trinity bottoms below wycliff to mockingbird, Then feb wentto gsp trial, Met few others an NTWC an warren fulks dallas news man, an made some other long dog friends, First trail went to dog acted 5 years old ran wild an nailed many birds on course an test area inshort order, Stayed pointing thru release after shot, On winged bird that went 159 yards over goat fence. Judge named Bill McCoy says want to send dog. Yes il try, Dog got to fence, an stoped I yelled over an he jumped it(obedience trainin) Nailed that bird an brought to hand circled an sat an held it until I reached out,Absolute PREFECTION, Funny part was only got 2nd as they said no reason for Finished dog to be in junior test he over did it,, Then guy offered 2 grand for that 75$ store nutt.. I declined, Loved that dog for 3 years killin quail, ducks, doves, skunks at nationals then left him out one night(house dog) an cried like babe next am when found him dead from bloat at door Then went on search for same again, never happened, never will, RIP jacksons grey (baron)
