Below is the response I received from the IGLOO corporation, after I'd written them about a 5 day cooler I had purchased that held ice for less than one day indoors. Below it is also my final reply to them. Basically, they are not standing behind their products at all. You decide if you want to buy their crappy products, but I won't ever again.

>- Store your ice chest in a room temperature or cooler environment for at least 12 hours prior to use
>
>- Chill items to be placed in the cooler for at least one hour prior to placing in the ice chest
>
>- Large cubed ice, blocks of ice, or freeze bottles are ideal for use
>
>- When in use the cooler should be kept in a shaded area when possible. Placement inside of a car trunk or on top of warmer surfaces will impede optimal performance.
>
>- Close cooler lid promptly after opening and keep lid closed when items are not being placed in, or being taken from the unit
>
>- Do not drain Chilled water from recently melted ice in the cooler as this actually results in more effective chilling of items in your cooler than simply ice alone.
>
>Igloo's 5-day, ice retention testing requires placing ice in the cooler, then placing that cooler in an oven at 90 degrees F. The test is complete once the inside cooler temperature reaches 34 degrees F.

Hello Jim,
I have to admit this is the response I hoped that I wouldn't get, but feared that I might. Customer Service is claimed by many and realiszed by few.
Based on the generic response of this email, which I presume to be prewritten for many complaints you likely receive on these products, not only will I not make another Igloo purchase ever again, but I will also post the results of this inquiry on several internet forums that I am a member of and let the court of public opinion decide on whether they want to buy your products. I also intend to contact our local news consumer investigators and see if they'd like to put these things to the test.
You're company's claims for the 5-day products borders on false advertising. At the very least, your requirements to meet the 5 day limit are beyond what a reasonable person would ever endure to keep their ice.
For what it is worth, the cooler had previously been in my pantry, in room temperature, the drinks were cold prior to entry into the cooler, and the lid was closed, and had you read my original email you would have seen that the ice melted less than 24 hours, actually more like 15 hours later, while being kept indoors. Whether or not the lid was defective, I really can't say, but that would be considered a manufacturing flaw if it were, which I shouldn't be at fault for.
At any rate, I won't be making an Igloo purchase again, and will do everything I can to steer anyone else away from making the same mistake that I did.
Former Customer,
James Davis
