That sucks! The shooter never should have been in possession of a fire arm

It was on the news and the shooter has a long history of criminal behavior including a past homicide during a robbery. He was not suppose to possess a fire arm because he is a felon. There is no place in society for this individual. He has now taken 2 lives during his 1 life. I feel so bad for his children and wife. I pray he had life insurance because they will not get anything from the shooter.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, But rather to skid in sideways, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, Screaming "WHOO HOO What A Ride"

Hell, if I'da known I'd only get five years there's several folks I know of that need to be removed from the gene pool. That light of a sentence would almost be worth it-it's damn sure not a deterrent...

If you are dumb enough to shoot mistake someone for a deer and shoot them. You probably should have been shot a long time ago.

That was what he was arrested for. There is an investigation going on now and there WILL be more charges added to that.

Very sad, but I personally think the wife needs to not be so forgiving! He shot across a property line to harvest an animal on someone elses property then would have trespassed to retrieve said animal!!! It was Murder, no excuses... How can you mistake a Human for a Deer? I feel for his children and hope that the maximum penalty by law is administered!!! Unlawful possession of a firearm... Come on Texas, is that the very best you can do? My condolences to the family!!! May our fellow hunter and father of 6 R.I.P!!!

In Tom Green Co. a drunk gets more time in prison vs a murderer(s) a couple of years ago 7 thugs including a dad killed a 15yo and they all received less than 15 years its sickening

HENDERSON, Texas -- A man who reported to investigators that he accidentally shot and killed a deer hunter in East Texas has been arrested on negligent homicide charges.
Robert Connally, 54, of Fort Worth, surrendered Wednesday to Rusk County, Texas, sheriff's deputies and was arrested. Authorities had notified him a warrant had been issued for his arrest.
The case involves the Jan. 1 death of 41-year-old Louis Conner Jr. of Overton.
Connally notified sheriff's deputies of the shooting, saying he mistook Conner for a deer.
Sheriff's Sgt. Viki Penny said there is no indication the men knew each other.
Connally had initially been arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm and released on bond. Authorities continued their investigation of what happened.

at 54 the guy prolly couldn't tell what he was looking at. Not only a scope was involved i am sure but Bino's should always be used before you can identify an animal. This is someone who got excited at something moving shot an unethical shot and killed a human Negligent im not sure about that one
