Doing it yourself is not very difficult. They have some great kits for blueing.

It depends on what you want to spend. There is cold blueing and hot blueing. You can cheaply cold blue the barrel yourself but hot blueing is more durable and you will want to take it to a gunsmith for that.

I have never blued a barrel but I just know from bluing tomahawks and knives.

You may try ADM in Southlake.

There are many different blueing methods; cold blueing, hot caustic blueing, nitre blueing, Belgian rust blueing, and slow rust blueing. There are other methods too.

I would recommend either hot caustic blueing or belgian rust blueing. If it is a higher end gun then slow rust blue is the answer. Cold blueing is a poor finish, rarely does the result look perfect, has low corrosion resistance comparetively, and I would never lower myself to that kind of quality. Im sure some of the internet trained home gunsmiths will try to prove me wrong.

Another thing you need to know is the old blueing will have to be removed, and all imperfections in the metal will need to be polished out. Lastly the whole barrel will need to be polished correctly/consistantly to a certain level of finish.
